About EFECS 2017

European Forum for Electronic Components and Systems

EFECS is the international forum with a focus on ‘Our Digital Future’ along the Electronic Components and Systems value chain in Europe. The organisers of this event, AENEAS, ARTEMIS-IA, EPoSS, ECSEL Joint Undertaking and the European Commission joined forces to bring all stakeholders together on 5-7 December 2017 and focus on this years’ theme: ‘Our Digital Future’.

The event will feature:

  • strategic sessions around the ECS-SRA (Strategic Research Agenda for Electronic Components and Systems) that is being developed
  • opportunities to create new collaborations, consortia and/or project ideas
  • keynote speakers sharing their expertise and vision
  • and a large exhibition of R&I results and new project ideas

The strategic sessions on the ECS-SRA also implement the ECSEL-JU Stakeholders Forum 2017.

Future European economic leadership and societal development will depend on the rapid implementation and exploitation of digital technologies, enabled by innovation along the Electronic Components & Systems (ECS) value chain. The R&D actors in ECS form a lively community, comprising large and small companies, universities and research institutes, technology ecosystems and governments.

EFECS gathers all stakeholders in one conference to:

  • Share the vision and strategies of industry leaders
  • Set the future direction for technical innovation in Europe
  • Encourage collaborative projects across the ECS Community
  • Demonstrate innovative activities across the sector

EFECS will provide attendees with the opportunity to participate in, and influence, this exciting transformation.

Key topics

EFECS will contain the following key topics:

EFECS will address the key strategic challenges facing our industry. In the plenary keynotes will illustrate the challenges that arise as Europe is “digitised”. Breakout sessions will explore the Strategic Research Agenda, the technology roadmap that must be followed if Europe is to compete effectively in global markets and address societal needs.

Collaboration is the bedrock of European innovation. Hear about the latest developments in the funding landscape and understand new collaborative initiatives. Participate in project pitch and poster sessions to lead, or be part of, the projects supporting ECS development in Europe. Join….

To ensure that Europe has a strong Digital industry enabling all required products applications and services, a clear vision and strong leadership is required. Understand the view of the Commission and industry through keynotes and a high-level panel. Become informed on new initiatives.

Networking and information sharing is THE catalyst for innovative activity. The exhibition area, with posters, project information, industry and scientific organisations and information on funding options will form a central location for discussions and idea sharing.
